Janice Garrett

Janice Garrett is an internationally active choreographer and dance educator who is the Artistic Director of her own San Francisco company, Janice Garrett & Dancers. Honored in 2004 as one of Dance Magazine’s top “25 to Watch,’ Garrett has choreographed for her company as well as for performance groups throughout the US and Europe. A former member of Dan Wagoner and Dancers, she has been a guest artist at universities across the country and a teacher for numerous international dance companies that include Rambert Dance Company, London Contemporary Dance Theatre, DV8 Physical Theatre, and Matthew Bourne’s Adventures in Motion Pictures/New Adventures. Her choreographic grants include support from the James Irvine Foundation, Zellerbach Family Foundation, W.A. Gerbode Foundation, William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, Meet the Composer, and SF Hotel Tax Fund/Grants for the Arts.

Frank Chaves

Frank Chaves joined River North Chicago Dance Company in 1992 as a choreographer and, in 1994, became co-artistic director.  In May 2001, Mr. Chaves assumed sole artistic directorship of River North Chicago.  An international choreographer and teacher, Mr. Chaves has created numerous works for River North Chicago and other companies including Spectrum Dance Theatre, Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, Point Park College for the Performing Arts, Barat Repertory Company, Kaleidoscope Dancers, Pori Dance Company (Finland) and Ballet Pacifica’s Choreographer’s Workshop.  As a performer, Mr. Chaves has danced with Ballet Concerto of Miami, New York’s Ballet Hispanico, Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago and six years with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago.


Mikey Thomas

Mikey Thomas received an MFA in Dance from The Ohio State University. Prior to joining the faculty of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), he worked as an independant dancer/choreographer in NYC and also for Sean Curran Company. He has served as a faculty member of Otterbein College, Ballet Met Columbus, Marymount College Tarrytown, Perry Mansfield School of Performing Arts, and Savannah College of Art and Design. Mr. Thomas teaches technique classes in modern and ballet, as well as courses in dance composition, movement fundamentals, dance appreciation and emerging technologies in dance performance. In 2005 his work “Movement Activities:  Response” was created for and performed by MADCO at the Toronto International Fringe Festival for Independent Dance Artists and was named by Dance International Magazine as the “Best of the Best.”


Laurie Eisenhower

Laurie Eisenhower, founder and artistic director of Eisenhower Dance Ensemble, received her BA and MFA degrees from Arizona State University.  She has performed and taught around the country with various dance companies and choreographers, most notably:  Pilobolus Dance Theatre, David Parsons, Chen and Dancers, Harry Streep III, and Mel Wong.  Ms. Eisenhower has had her choreography performed by the companies of Baker’s Half Dozen in New York, Two Rivers Dance Company of Illinois, Local Motion in Oklahoma, Desert Dance Theatre and Semaphor Dance Works of Phoenix and Detroit’s Harbinger Dance Company.  Her work has also been performed at the Morningside Dance Festival at the Theatre of the Riverside Church and at Dance Theatre Workshop in New York.  Ms. Eisenhower is also well known for her teacing and is a Full Professor of Dance at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.  In 2003 she was presented with the Outstanding Michigan Artist Award by Governor Jennifer Granholm at the Governor’s Arts Awards ceremony.


Todd Weeks

Todd Weeks received his classical ballet training from Joyce Seaborne-Bader, ARAD in Dallas, Texas and has danced with Dancers Unlimited Repertory Company, Burning Feet Dance, Webster Dance Theatre and for nine years with MADCO before being appointed the company’s Associate Artistic Director in 2003.  He has created 16 repertory works for MADCO including 2 full-length productions.  Mr. Weeks also has an extensive musical theatre background and enjoyed performing in over 30 productions and 13 seasons at the Muny Theater in St. Louis and has performed with other regional theaters such as Kansas City’s Starlight Theater, Atlanta’s Fox Theater and Pittsburgh’s Benedum Theater. In 2003 he choreographed the world premiere of “Xanadu Live” for Legacy Entertainment.  Mr. Weeks has over 20 years of teaching experience and most recently taught master classes for Cirque du Soleil in Orlando, Florida and for the State University of New York Fredonia and serves as Adjunct Ballet Faculty at the University of Missouri St. Louis.  He is the co-owner of Midwest Dance Academy in O’Fallon, Illinois.

To the General Services Entrance: Take the Florissant Road/University Blvd. exit (exit 240) south and take the first right onto University Place Dr. Make a left onto Mark Twain Drive. Proceed to parking in Lot K to the right.

From Hwy 170
Take Natural Bridge Road East.  Take a left onto the University of Missouri – St. Louis campus at West Drive.  Take a right onto Mark Twain Drive.  Proceed to parking in Lot K to the right.

For last minute directions, call 314-341-5407.

Participants must be at least 14 years of age and intermediate/advanced dancers.  Observers will also be required to register for the class.  Pre-registration is recommended as class size will be limited. Make check payable to MADCO.
