hand in hand - an interactive concert

JUNE 18TH - 20TH, 7PM, MADCO YOUTUBE LIVE STREAM
Now Collaborating with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Gamma Omega Chapter

Join MADCO in this online three-day event designed to facilitate conversations around race and social justice. Held between 7 - 9pm each night, audiences will view excerpts of both MADCO concert works and works from local community artists that speak on the issues of civil injustice. Following the showings, a moderated panel discussion with community leaders will investigate paths for forward movement in the community. Audience members are also encouraged to participate in the discussion by submitting questions via MADCO’s Facebook & YouTube live stream.

Thursday, June 18th will showcase works from MADCO’s FREEDOM concert, originally debuted in the spring of 2017. This concert was developed in response to the shooting of Michael Brown and inspired by findings in the Civil Rights Collection located in Washington University in St. Louis’ Olin Library. Friday, June 19th will showcase works from MADCO’s UNITY MOVEMENT concert, last performed in the spring of 2019.  This concert used research collected from various neighborhoods in the St. Louis area to highlight the strength and difficulty that comes with unifying a group of people. Saturday, June 20th is dedicated to works from the community. MADCO wants to provide a platform to local voices allowing us all to experience their responses to what in going on in our community and beyond.

Click below to join the live stream or to donate. Any donations given allows us to continue to perform social conscious dance performances on the concert stage, in schools and in our community, as well as host relevant events such as Hand In Hand. Additionally, a portion of all donations given through the month of June will be donated to Color of Change.

About our partner - the gamma omega chapter of alpha kappa alpha sorority inc.

Gamma Omega is located in St. Louis, MO, the home of our Founder, Ethel Hedgeman Lyle. We were chartered on December 2, 1920. Additionally, we are the third oldest graduate chapter in the sisterhood; the first and oldest chapter in the Central Region of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Our membership consists of over 300 college trained professional women who are leaders in their professions and the community. We are committed to our sisterhood and to providing invigorating and impactful service through our international program, Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service, in the St. Louis community and beyond.

We have found that the improvement of our community occurs through the success of individuals, families, neighborhoods, and institutions. Therefore, in keeping with our motto of "service to all mankind", our services encompass each of those entities. Through our international program, Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service, we have and will continue to initiate activities that create opportunities for success with particular focus in the areas of HBCU For Life: A Call to Action, Women's Health and Wellness, Building Your Economic Legacy, The Arts, and Global Impact.

Gamma Omega Chapter has a rich legacy of success in providing innovative and impactful service in the community. Our programs and activities have focused on alleviating problems, providing mentorship and support, sharing resources and creating opportunities for citizens in our area to live successful, fulfilling lives. Over the 98 years of service, Gamma Omega has developed signature programs, strategic partnerships and collaborative initiatives that have helped us to achieve and remain "Set On Success" in our Sisterhood, Operations and Service efforts.
